Now I have discussed on several occasions how I love competeion. I would like to say that I love when the advisaries are equally and fairly matched in all situations. The fact is my fairness gene is absent when it comes to a high stake predicament like a military action. A truly obsessed person like myself has the where-with-all to turn just about any situation into a contest. Three of us, muself, my sister and her boyfriend were strolling through the magnificent Butchart Gardens and the subject of where would be the best place to live in the Vancouver area. Now the only way I think comes close to evaluating the quality of an area is to go by price per sq. ft. We three agreed that that would be our barometer. I bet on Vancouver proper. My sister bet on the condos in Surrey and her boyfriend chose a Burnaby condo. When we get back, we will check them out on line. Stay tuned.

It is no accident that I have become this off-the-rails competitive person. I come from a long line of, dare I say, gamblers. Speaking about gambling, it was always in the cards that I would turn out this way. When I was seven years old, my father and my uncle woud sit down at coffee tables and play this game called table football. It entailed snapping your fingers at a closed book of matches in an attempt to have it hanging over the edge of the table without falling. I remember them practically getting in fist fights over whether or not one of them scored. These are obviously strong genes for anyone to overcome.

Far be it from me to pass up any opportunity to bet on the outcome of anything from the turtle and the hare race to the Indy 500. I was passing by a lawn mower shop that was having a sale on electric mowers. They were going to pit them against gas mowers in a 20 yard race. The motor testing made the electric mowers sound so feeble in comparison to the gas driven ones. I was shocked to see how well the electric mowers performed. I did however put my money on gas and won a bet for a change.

I must admit that the competive nature instilled in my being has really taken effect on my whole life. I see a bet in almost every situation. Whether it be a basketball game or buying a gift, I become competitive. This has not been an easy trait to live with. I even bet on movie endings. The weird part is that my advisary in many of these bets is me. It isn’t always possible to get someone else involved. When my parents celebrated their 50Th wedding anniversary, I racked my brain to get them the most outstanding gift and show up my siblings. They own a mid-sized furniture store. My gift of furniture retail software stole the show.

You all know how I revere winners. WhenI got the drift on a self directed IRA, I instantly thought WINNER! I have often related that I love to bet on just about anything. I recently got involved in betting on whom the “bachelorette” would choose. I lost. This stirred up my competitive spirit and got me searching for my next wager. Then my cousin told me about this way of becoming your own bank and directing your own IRA. He called it infinite banking. I bet him it wasn’t legal and was a bunch of smoke. I told him if it seemed to be too good to be true, it probably wasn’t. I lost again. Gentleman start your engines (you too Dana). This phrase is classical music to my ears. I love competition. As you know each car has to earn its starting position by going through trial runs and, therefore, they establish where each is to start a race. It would be nice if this type of inregrity also was applied to life. As we all know, life very often is not fair. Case in point is how the rich and powerful always knew about things like infinite banking and having a self directed IRA. Why weren’t the rest of us informed about these jewels until now? Let me see.
